Hi, I'm Alena, a Philadelphia and Baltimore based artist with a background in illustration and design. I work with a variety of media and subjects, always emphasizing the energy within what I draw.

I am obsessed with waste - the things people call trash that with the right knowledge and creativity can have incredible value. Because of this conviction I've chosen a career in sustainable horticulture, where working outside, through every season, allows me to intimately observe the cycles that ensure nature has no waste. My art practice  allows me to connect with and revel in these dense ecological cycles. I  love complex overlapping of colors, shapes, light, and texture that consume me and make me marvel at the infinite combinations. My hope is my work can inspire the same appreciation in others.
